Decided to stop throwing money away renting a router from Verizon. I initially purchased a $200 router from Netgear that constantly disconnected and their Tech Support wanted me to pay to have them ship me a new one–no thanks!
I took to Amazon and this had decent reviews and a fair price at $80 in July 2020. Quickly arrived and set up was easy–the product has a QR code on the bottom you can scan (didn’t really work with my iPhone) or you can type in the information your self. There’s an app through which you can set up security preferences and indicate whether you want devices to automatically connect to the 2.4 of 5Ghz bands. Interface was pretty easy to navigate.
This has not disconnected yet (NetGear was disconnecting EVERY day) and maintains high speeds on our 100/100 Fios connection (300+ DL/175+ UL).
