TP Link Archer A8 Router Review:
TP-Link Archer A8 is the latest router released by TP-Link recently. It supports up to Wireless AC1900 which is up to 1300Mbps on the 5Ghz band and 600Mbps on the 2.4 Ghz band. Today, I will be taking a look at this super economical router and see how well such a budget-friendly router will perform.
The performance is decent when testing the speed using a laptop with an AC1200 wireless adapter. We expect the speed can better if we use an AC1900 wireless adapter like TP-Link Archer T9UH. Keep in mind, the WiFi speed depends upon the wireless adapter of your device as well.
At short distance or a wall next to the router, we are getting over 500Mbps simply without an issue. This performance is better than most Wireless AC router for sale with the same price range.
At longer range which is 2 walls to the wireless router, the speed dropped to just 285Mbps. This is expected as the Wi-Fi speed is heavily based on the wireless signal strength. This shows that the TP Link Archer A8 is slightly slower than the Archer C80 that we tested previously.
With the decent Wi-Fi performance, TP Link Archer A8 might be an excellent candidate for a wireless access point with the built-in access point mode. I wish TP-Link included a repeater mode to be able to use thie router as a high-performance wireless repeater which is beneficial in some situations.
TP Link Archer A8 can get a maximum speed of up to 914Mbps when using an Ethernet LAN cable directly to the router with our Gigabit Internet connection.
Final:
The TP Link Archer A8 router performs admirably in our Wi-Fi speed test, providing fast Wi-Fi speeds together with adequate Wi-Fi coverage. It is fairly simple to set up, and the performance will be enough even with a slower Internet connection. Those looking for a router that provides as high as 500Mbps Internet speed and does not have more than 20 devices connected will find TP Link Archer A8 router to be an outstanding choice.

I live in a 2-story home, and my old Netgear router was high-end at the time I bought it. However, my Spectrum internet (100 MB) was so slow that I decided to get a new router. My Windows 7 laptop, which was about 25 feet away from the router, was getting anywhere from .5 to 5 mb. It was very spotty. I got this new router, and had it hooked up and ready to go in 15 minutes, and my laptop was now getting 40 mb! My newer Windows 10 laptop now gets 115 mb. I’m extremely pleased with this router. Between computers, smart tvs, phones, and even my smart light bulbs, I’ve got 14 devices hooked up to the internet, and all are working great!
